The Renovation Atlas is a growing archive and collective mapping of successful renovation, reuse, and transformation stories across Europe. It brings together built examples that show how existing buildings can be reused and adapted to changing social, ecological, and economic needs. Each project is a built argument and evidence that the homes of tomorrow are already built today.

What if functioning buildings were seen as potential, not risk? Watch Power to Renovation

Power to Renovation is a documentary film about why functioning buildings are demolished and how value is defined in housing, construction, and real estate. The film brings together architects, economists, activists, and policymakers from across Europe. They explain the forces that have made demolition seem normal, rational, and even progressive, despite the social, economic, and ecological consequences of this approach. Rather than offering a single solution, the film invites a shift in perspective: from seeing reuse of buildings as risk, to seeing the potential of transformation.

HouseEurope! Power to Renovation is a European Citizens’ Initiative calling on the EU to make renovation and reuse the default option for existing buildings. Its goals are simple and concrete: save homes, save jobs, save energy, and preserve social and cultural value. By reaching one million signatures, citizens can formally require the European Commission to respond and consider new legislation. It is a citizen-led effort to shift Europe’s building policy from demolition to care, resilience, and long-term affordability.
