House E by EXHIBIT Arhitectura is a residential vertical extension of 2015 in Brașov, Romania. It transformed a 1950s house crowded by communist-era flats into a 570 m² home by adding a lightweight, translucent living volume with its own independent structural framework above the existing roof.
The project advances sustainable urban densification by stacking a new home over an old one, avoiding demolition waste. The lightweight, translucent envelope harvests solar light in a shaded neighborhood and interfaces with neighboring blind walls, optimizing land use and thermal performance on a highly restricted footprint without outward urban sprawl.
