Transformation of a garage into 63 apartments

Atelier Téqui Architectes

Garage Parmentier by Atelier Téqui Architectes is a residential transformation and vertical extension project of 2025 in France, Paris. While use before did serve as a multi-level Peugeot garage characterized by large concrete floorplates and vehicle ramps, the transformation of 2025 provided 63 luminous apartments and a ground-floor shop within the resturctured shell, increasing the usable surface area from 2,886 m² to 4,707 m² through a three-story timber-steel extension.

This project contributes to the social-ecological transformation by repurposing an opaque, fossil-fuel-oriented infrastructure into a porous, biosourced residential hub that addresses the Parisian housing crisis. By preserving the existing concrete skeleton and adding a lightweight wood-metal extension, the design achieves high environmental labels (BBC Effinergie Rénovation) while introducing greenery into the dense urban block through new interior courtyards and gardens.
